In 1968 the Mark II continued as one of Britain's most popular cars, sold as a two or four door saloon or four door estate in base, Deluxe, Super, GT and 1600E trims, though not every trim was offered on every body style or engine. The 1600E, launched the previous year, combined the lowered suspension of the Cortina Lotus with the high tune GT 1600 engine and had bucket seats and leather clad sports steering wheel.
