From 1989 Ford Australia put the Corsair name on its rebadged Nissan Pintara, a Bluebird derivative. Known during development as Project Matilda, it was produced under the Button Plan and offered as a four door sedan and a five door liftback in GL and Ghia trim, with 2.0 litre CA20E and 2.4 litre KA24E four cylinder engines. It was meant to replace the Telstar. The Corsair UA was a badge engineered Nissan Pintara sold by Ford Australia.
