By 1982 the Corcel II engine was a CHT, an improved version of the Cleon engine used from 1968, with a redesigned cylinder head and a rotating valve. The Corcel II also gave rise to a pickup called the Ford Pampa in 1982, though that used the more upmarket Del Rey front. The Corcel was a front wheel drive family car that Ford sold in Brazil and neighbouring countries, built on Renault underpinnings. Ford do Brasil gained the design when it bought Willys do Brasil in 1967.
