In 1980 the Corcel II was powered by a 1.4 litre four, rated at 54 horsepower in the base, Luxo and LDO versions, with the GT at 57 horsepower. The Corcel II bore a strong resemblance to the European Ford Escort and Cortina, though its Renault underpinnings remained. The Corcel was a front wheel drive family car that Ford sold in Brazil and neighbouring countries, built on Renault underpinnings. Ford do Brasil gained the design when it bought Willys do Brasil in 1967.
