The sporting Corcel II GT of 1979 had 57 horsepower, from a twin barrel Solex carburettor. The Corcel II was also used for a one make Group 1 championship in Brazil from 1979 to 1983, which ran under the rules of the FIA, the world motorsport body. Ford do Brasil gained the design when it bought Willys do Brasil in 1967. The Corcel was a front wheel drive family car that Ford sold in Brazil and neighbouring countries, built on Renault underpinnings.
