Ford launched the Corcel II in 1977 for the 1978 model year, with a completely remade design of straight lines in place of the original pony car style. These changes also applied to the Belina wagon, and the four door version was dropped because of a lack of consumer interest. Ford do Brasil gained the design when it bought Willys do Brasil in 1967. The Corcel was a front wheel drive family car that Ford sold in Brazil and neighbouring countries, built on Renault underpinnings.
