In 1974 some of the L versions and all the GT versions had a new bored out 1.4 litre engine of 1,372 cubic centimetres, an enlargement of the existing engine. The Corcel GT did well in Brazilian street car championships at Tarumã and Interlagos thanks to its front wheel drive stability and light weight. The Corcel was a front wheel drive family car that Ford sold in Brazil and neighbouring countries, built on Renault underpinnings.
