In 1972 the Corcel was given running styling changes each year, borrowing several details from the Ford Maverick, so that it looked more and more like a pony car. The GT was updated with new decals each year, and it was eventually given a larger and more powerful engine. The Corcel was a front wheel drive family car that Ford sold in Brazil and neighbouring countries, built on Renault underpinnings. Ford do Brasil gained the design when it bought Willys do Brasil in 1967.
