The Corcel again became Ford's best selling model in Brazil in 1971, after the recall, and two new versions appeared: the L, for luxo, and the more powerful GT, with a twin barrel carburettor, 80 horsepower and a top speed of 141 kilometres per hour compared with 135 for the regular cars. Ford do Brasil gained the design when it bought Willys do Brasil in 1967. The Corcel was a front wheel drive family car that Ford sold in Brazil and neighbouring countries, built on Renault underpinnings.
