1996 Ford Contour

For 1996 the backs of the Contour's front seats were recessed, improving rear seat leg room, rear seat cushions were lowered to increase headroom, chrome bumper strips became body colour, seven spoke alloy wheels were standard on the SE, and split rear seats became available on all models. The powertrain control module changed to the newer EEC V to be OBD II compliant, and the manual transmission was reworked for easier shifts. A Sport package was introduced during the year.
