The Consul EOTA was the four cylinder car shown at the 1950 London Motor Show, and in 1951 it went on sale with a new 1508 cc, 47 horsepower overhead valve engine and hydraulic clutch operation, which was an unusual feature in 1950. A three speed gearbox with synchromesh only on second and top was retained. It was also the first British production car to use the now common MacPherson strut independent front suspension. It was built by Ford of Britain at Dagenham.
