A new 2637 cc version of the Cologne V6, assembled by Weslake with special all alloy heads, appeared in September 1971 and powered the Capri RS2600. It used Kugelfischer fuel injection to reach 150 PS and was the basis for the Group 2 RS2600 raced in the European Touring Car Championship. In November the Capri Special was launched, based on the 1600 GT and 2000 GT and finished only in Vista Orange. Ford revised the car in late 1971 with new suspension.
