A flexible fuel 1.8 litre engine from Volvo, called the 1.8f, could run on petrol or ethanol in the 2008 C-Max, with ethanol adding about 25 horsepower for a total of 125. The range also had 1.6 and 2.0 litre Duratorq diesels and an upgraded 1.8 litre Endura diesel. The C-Max was a five door compact people carrier that Ford built on the same platform as the Focus. A longer seven seat version called the Grand C-Max sat above it in the range.
