The 1951 Anglia was the E494A, a spartan small family car with a 10 horsepower, 1172 cc engine. It was introduced two years before the 100E would follow the example of the larger Ford Consul, which Ford introduced in 1951. An Anglia tested by the British magazine The Motor had a top speed of 57 miles per hour, and it was Britain's lowest priced four wheel car with a price of 309 pounds including taxes. It was also built in Australia as the A494A.
