In April 1996 a driver side SRS airbag became standard on the Presso, and with the abolition of the Eunos channel the name stayed Eunos Presso but sales moved to the Mazda Efini stores. The Presso of 1996 was in its sixth year, a small hatchback coupe sold abroad as the MX-3 and in Australia as the Eunos 30X, which in late 1996 became the Mazda Eunos 30X. The Presso used the E platform of Mazda and a rear window curved in three dimensions.
