The Opel Twin was a prototype vehicle that Opel built in 1991, and its premiere was at the 1992 Geneva Motor Show. It was an electric car whose drive unit, including the rear wheels, could be exchanged. The electric drive used two 10 kW motors and one 29 kWh battery for a range of 200 km, and the batteries and motors could be swapped for an internal combustion engine with fuel tank, gearbox and exhaust. That petrol drive was a 0.8-litre, 25 kW engine with a 20-litre tank, giving a range of 500 km. The Twin was an early experiment in letting one small car serve as either an electric or a petrol vehicle.
