On 25 November 1997 a partial improvement of the MPV was made, and with the abolition of the Efini stores the name was changed back to Mazda MPV and the brand mark was changed to the new corporate mark of Mazda. The Type G L and Grants Type G L grades were added, and a special edition, the Type G Special, was sold in May 1997 with a bright front grille, rear spoiler, roof rails and ABS. In Japan the MPV sold from January 1990 as a rear wheel drive car with a 3.0 liter V6 and a leather interior.
