The 1959 Edsels were introduced in the fall of 1958, and the Citation and Pacer models and the trouble prone Teletouch system were dropped. Edsel styling was significantly toned down, with a vertical grille that now had a fine bar pattern. The Corsair now represented the premium Edsel range, shared its body panels with the Ranger and was based on the 1959 Ford Fairlane 500, riding on a 120 inch wheelbase with the 361 V8 and four door sedan and convertible versions added. Output was 9,318 and the Corsair was discontinued.
