The fifth generation Viper, the VX I, was built by SRT for 2013 and 2014 and used an all aluminum V10 upsized to 8.4 liters and rated at 640 horsepower, with a Tremec TR-6060 six speed manual transmission with a 3.55 final drive. The fifth generation generally received poor sales: in October 2013 production was reduced by a third because of low sales and growing inventory, in spite of the car's improvements in torsional stiffness.
