In 1987 Chrysler and AMC agreed to add the Omni and Horizon to the contract, so production shifted from the Belvidere Assembly plant to the AMC Kenosha plant in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Following the 1987 model year the Dodge Charger and Plymouth Turismo were replaced by the Dodge Shadow and Plymouth Sundance, which Chrysler had introduced for 1987 to replace the Omni and Horizon model line. The Omni continued as a five door hatchback.
