For 1973 the Charger received new sheet metal and was longer, wider and slightly taller than the 1971 and 1972 cars, with vertically slatted taillights, new grilles and no hidden headlights. The SE had a roof with a triple opera window under a vinyl canopy. Sales were around 108,000, the highest of the generation, although more than sixty percent of the cars had tame engines, and five mile an hour bumpers were fitted front and rear.
