The Plymouth Reliant and Dodge Aries were mid size cars introduced for model year 1981 as the first K cars of the Chrysler Corporation. They were the smallest cars to have the traditional six passenger two bench seat arrangement with a column shifter, which Chrysler marketed as being able to seat six Americans. They were rebadged variants, manufactured in Newark, Delaware, Detroit, Michigan, and Toluca, Mexico, in a single generation. The Aries replaced the Dodge Aspen. Its model years run from 1981 to 1989.
