The Volvo P1800 is a two-plus-two, front-engined, rear-drive sports coupe that Volvo Cars marketed from 1961 to 1973, built on mechanical parts from the Amazon. Its styling is credited to Pelle Petterson, who worked under the Italian stylist Pietro Frua while Frua was linked to Ghia, although Volvo only officially recognised his authorship in 2009. Early cars were assembled by Jensen Motors in England, and production moved to Volvo in Gothenburg in 1963, when the car became the 1800S. A shooting brake body, the 1800ES, was added at the end of the run in 1972. The car became widely known through the television series The Saint, and Irv Gordon drove one past three million miles as its original owner.
