The MG T-Type was a series of body-on-frame open two-seater sports cars built by MG from 1936 to 1955 and sold as the Midget in TA, TB, TC, TD and TF forms. The TA of 1936 replaced the earlier overhead-camshaft engine with a pushrod unit from the Wolseley Ten, the TB of 1939 brought the 1250 cc XPAG engine, and the TC, the first postwar MG in 1945, sold 10,001 cars, more than any earlier MG. The TD of 1950 added independent front suspension, rack and pinion steering and a wider body aimed at North America, and nearly 30,000 were built. The TF of 1953 was a facelifted TD whose engine grew to 1466 cc in 1954. Production ended in April 1955, when the all new MGA replaced it.
