In 1967 the Honda S800 became available in Britain. By then the car had the conventional layout of a driveshaft and live axle located by four radius rods and a Panhard rod, giving predictable handling and a firm ride, and in Britain it cost less than the Mini Cooper and Triumph Spitfire. A description from April 1967 called it the fastest production car of one liter in the world, thanks to its high revving engine, which could reach 10,000 rpm.
