The first phase of the Pacifica minivan was introduced on January 11, 2016 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit as a 2017 model, branded Pacifica instead of Town and Country to distinguish it from earlier minivans. It brought hands free aluminum sliding doors, a 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 and, in 2017, the first plug in hybrid in the minivan class. Its model years run from 2017 to 2020, before the 2021 refresh.
