For 1990 Chrysler released a third generation of the Fifth Avenue, again carrying the New Yorker name and sharing its Y platform chassis with the new Chrysler Imperial. It was the first version to adopt front wheel drive, a long wheelbase version of the C platform Dodge Dynasty and Chrysler New Yorker with five more inches behind the rear door, and its 3.3 liter V6 with a four speed Ultradrive automatic was shared with the Imperial. A rear vinyl roof set it apart from its sibling.
