The Fifth Avenue name appeared in 1979 as an upmarket trim of the R body New Yorker, and ordering the Fifth Avenue Edition package gave the buyer a car in only two tone Designer's Cream on Beige paint with matching Champagne leather, a landau vinyl roof, fixed quarter windows blended into the rear doors and a special Pentastar hood ornament. The package was color keyed even to the bumper rub strips, and a long list of convenience and appearance options was offered at extra cost.
