The 1984 Corvette started a new generation after the model year 1983 was cancelled because of parts supplier quality problems and production line changeover issues. Regular production of the 1984 models began on January 3, 1983, and customers took delivery from March 1983, so the 1984 model year lasted 17 months. From 1984 to 1988 the car could be had with the Doug Nash four plus three transmission.
