The 1974 Corvette replaced the squared tail and chrome rear bumper blades with a tapering urethane cover with built in license plate holder and recesses for the round taillights. Casting limits meant that left and right covers with a vertical center seam were used for 1974 only, and resonators quieted the exhaust. It was the last year for true dual exhausts, for a Corvette without a catalytic converter and for the 454 big block.
