1970 Chevrolet Corvette

Automobiles

From the January 1970 start of production, fender flares were molded into the body to cut the debris thrown up by the wheels. Motor Trend clocked an LT1 small block through the quarter mile in 14.36 seconds in May 1970, and the magazine set the Corvette against the Porsche in its test. 1970 is also the first of the three years in which the ZR1 package was offered. The ZR1 and ZR2 packages, offered from 1970 to 1972, were solid lifter small block packages with heavy duty transmission and suspension, and 25 ZR1 cars were built in 1970.
