The 1958 Corvette introduced the exposed four headlamp face and bold grille that all the cars through 1962 kept, and this model year alone had a faux louvered hood and chrome spears on the trunk. The 240 and 290 horsepower engines were fitted with an 8000 rpm tachometer, while the lower powered engines had one reading to 6000 rpm. The dual four headlamp face introduced here stayed for the next four model years, and the lower powered engines used a tachometer reading to 6000 rpm.
