There were few changes to the 1979 Camaro, but the newly introduced luxury Berlinetta model came with the 305 two barrel V8 as standard and a rear window defogger replaced the blower type. Sales for 1979 were 282,571, the highest ever for any generation of the Camaro, before or since. The 250 inline six remained standard in the base and RS models, and an electric rear window defroster became an option, replacing the old blower type.
