In Canada Chevrolet retained the Bel Air as its lowest priced full size car, and for 1977 the Canadian Bel Airs received the same downsizing as their Impala and Caprice counterparts in the United States. Body styles were a four door sedan, a two door coupe and a station wagon, and the 250 cubic inch six was reinstated as standard power in sedans for the first time since 1973, with a 140 horsepower 305 V8 as an option.
