For 1988 several previously optional items were made standard to mitigate a price increase of nearly 2,000 dollars, including a tilt steering column, telescopic steering wheel and power trunk release. Under the hood was a new 155 horsepower 4.5 liter V8. At the end of the 1988 model year Cadillac discontinued the slow selling DeVille based Touring Coupe and Sedan, and the four door variant would return in 1992.
