The Catera was marketed from 1997 to 2001 by Cadillac over a single generation, and was replaced by the Cadillac CTS, whose initials stood for Catera Touring Sedan. Re engineered versions of the Omega were manufactured in Australia from 1988 as the Holden Commodore. The Catera had been manufactured by Opel in Rüsselsheim with production reaching about 95,000. The 2001 Catera was the last model year, after which the CTS took over in 2002, a car whose name stood for Catera Touring Sedan.
