The last of the first generation Z4, a Z4 3.0si Roadster in Space Grey, rolled off the production line on 28 August 2008 at Spartanburg. In February 2009 the E89 Z4 would begin production as the successor to the E85 and E86. The coupe had sold 12,819 3.0si cars and 4,275 Z4 M coupes over its life from 2006 to 2008. In that year BMW built the final roadsters of the American made generation, before the E89 was built in Germany instead.
