Z3 production ended on 28 June 2002, with the line replaced by the E85 Z4, after seven years and several body styles. The roadster, coupe, M Roadster and M Coupe had all sold as BMW's two seat sports cars and the Z3 was the best selling model of the Z series up to that date. The Z4 took over the mantle in the following model year. The final cars were built in the summer of 2002, so 2002 was the last year of the Z3 and of its production run of seven years.
