Deliveries of the XM commenced in 2023. BMW entered a gentleman's agreement with Citroen to be able to use the XM name for its vehicle, since Citroen had used it for an executive car. Along with its 4.4 liter V8, the XM uses an electric motor integrated into the eight speed automatic gearbox that produces 145 kW, powered by a 25.7 kWh battery with an estimated range of 48 km on the EPA cycle. The XM was sold as the XM, XM Label and XM Label Red.
