The G65 is the fifth generation X5 and the first X5 to receive a battery electric variant, the iX5. It adopts design elements and technologies from BMW's Neue Klasse generation, with a monolithic body and small kidney grilles, but retains the CLAR platform. A China only long wheelbase variant, the G78, was officially unveiled on 27 July 2026, with a claimed range of 1,000 km on the CLTC cycle. It is also built with five powertrain types.
