The F26 was the first X4, previewed by the BMW Concept X4 that was unveiled at Auto Shanghai in 2013 and shown in production form at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, then in Beijing and at Leipzig. It was based on the F25 X3, about 37 mm taller than it, and the M40i version was announced in 2015. It was built at Spartanburg, where 900 million dollars was invested for X model production. Its model years run from 2014 to 2018.
