The second generation X2 was fully revealed on 11 October 2023, with the introduction of the first ever battery electric iX2 model. Ahead of the official reveal the high performance M35i was teased on social media. The X2 and iX2 were presented to the public at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo on 26 October 2023, with a sloping roofline similar to the X6. It went on sale a few months later, in early 2024.
