In 2024 the M35i was added to the X1 line up in the United States, which had initially consisted of the xDrive28i only. The front wheel drive electric iX1, the eDrive25L for China, was scheduled for March 2024. The third generation U11 and U12 X1 was thus in its second full year with petrol, diesel, plug in hybrid and electric power. The iX1 electric version was also sold in China as a long wheelbase front wheel drive car.
