In 2022 BMW updated the 8 Series with an updated look and technology, giving the G15, G14 and G16 a new set of lights and the new iDrive system. The car had been in production since 2018 and the facelift was the mid life revision of the second generation 8 Series, which was still built at Dingolfing in Germany. The update brought a new look to the whole 8 Series family of coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe.
