In the autumn of 2025 BMW announced that the G15 would be discontinued without replacement, with German sales ending soon after, ending the nameplate once again. Production of the M8 ended in 2025. The 8 Series had been on sale since November 2018, and its end meant BMW left the grand tourer coupe market it had returned to seven years earlier. The M8 was withdrawn first, while the ordinary 8 Series carried on until April 2026.
