The M6 version of the E63 was initially introduced as a coupe at the 2005 Geneva International Motor Show, with a V10 engine from the same family as the Formula One engines of BMW Williams. It was introduced in 2005 in coupe and convertible body styles, giving the 6 Series a halo model. The standard E63 and E64 were both in production at the same time. The M6 was powered by a V10 engine, derived from Formula One technology.
