The G30 5 Series saloon was unveiled on 12 October 2016, before its public debut in January 2017 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and production started at the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing in November 2016. The Escape promotional film was released online on 23 October 2016. The seventh generation took over from the F10 with sales starting in February 2017. Magna Steyr production at Graz began in March 2017.
