2006 was a full production year for the E60 with the 525i, 530i, 545i and 550i at the heart of the range and the M5 at the top. The E60 and E61 had a launch in 2003 and 2004 and by this year were fully rolled out. The 5 Series Touring E61 offered more space than the E39 estate, and Security models were also built at Dingolfing. The facelift was still a year away, and the iDrive control system was standard on all models.
