E34 Touring models remained in production until June 1996, after the E39 saloon had replaced the saloon in December 1995. The last E34 left the line in mid year, closing a run that began in November 1987. It was the 5 Series that brought V8 engines, the Touring and the first diesels with intercoolers to the range and the car was well liked by the motoring press. Alpina's B10 3.0 AllRad run, between 1993 and 1996, comprised 64 saloons and 70 Touring cars.
