1977 BMW 5 Series

Automobiles

A small six cylinder model went into production in 1977, in the form of a 2 liter 520 rather than a 2.3 liter one. To meet Sweden's tough emissions standards a fuel injected version of the 528 entered production in June 1977, and the carburetted 528 was discontinued in September. In South Africa the facelifted model arrived in February 1977, later than in Europe. That year the Frankfurt show also saw the unveiling of the new M20 six cylinder engines for the E21 3 Series.
